On brass instruments, we remove dents, and lube stuck slides, and valves, align trombone slides and other slides, brush polish valves and casings, replace screws, supply new lead pipes, replace missing parts, level bell rims, roll out creases, and eliminate buzzes and noises. It’s an enormous bean bag chair that’s quite possibly the most comfortable thing ever invented.

The bigger the woodwind instrument the lower the pitch sound they make. So an oboe, which is about the same length as the flute or the clarinet, has a lowest note close to that of the flute and, like the flute, it plays all of the harmonic series. The high school stage does not have the best acoustics, but it's not terrible. Key heights are also adjusted for maximum projection. Virdung also provides the first ever fingering chart for a recorder with a range of an octave and a seventh, though he says that the bass had a range of only an octave and sixth.

The diameters are exaggerated. Mechanism will work better if lightly oiled occasionally with sewing machine or gun oil. They have a huge selection of gear, ample rooms to try equipment out, and often will let you take an instrument/mouthpiece/ligature for a week to try it out "in the field". Definatly a "can't live without" article. Beginner level, it will get you through a lot of details like sockets and tenons, tone holes, boring, reaming, and finishing.

Single-reed instruments have mouthpieces while exposed double-reed instruments and open flutes do not have mouthpieces. Some musiciains still perform on flutes made of wood because they simply prefer that "wood" sound or because this sound is more appropriate for older music. It is true that in the hands of a skilled player changes in dynamics by simply blowing harder or softer are possible provided the instrument is of a high quality and the player knows the instrument well. In this case the reed must be replaced or readjusted. The note is only occasionally found in pre-20th-century music, but it has become standard in modern music.
